Tilbury 4
Harlow Town 1 HARLOW Town FC's Ryman League woes continued on a wet and windy Tuesday night with another heavy defeat.
With their 10-point deduction for financial problems, The Hawks currently have just one point in Division One North - 10 behind the team above them.
Tuesday was a repeat of recent performances for the Hawks as they were unable to convert possession and chances into goals, much to the disappointment of Harlow manager Anthony Anstead.
"Their manager could not see how they won the game, let alone by four goals," he said. "I thought we would go on to win the game comfortably.
"Tilbury needed just four or five chances to score their four goals, we needed 12 to score just one. I think we hit the target twice and they hit the target five times and four of those went in. Their strikers showed us how to finish."
At a wet and windy Chadfield's, Harlow showed early on that they had not come to just sit back, as they pushed the ball forward trying to catch the Dockers off guard.
The home side took the lead 34 minutes into the game - a Joe Keith free-kick from just outside the area, saw the experienced defender curl the ball into the top corner of the net.
Harlow saw several chances go begging as the score remained 1-0 at the break.
With the strong wind at their backs, Harlow come out of the blocks quickly in the second half and grabbed a deserved equaliser in the 48th minute. A well worked ball into the Dockers penalty area resulted in Harlow's Gavin Taylor slotting home from close range to level the score.
Buoyed by the goal, Harlow continued to put pressure on the Dockers back-line, Harlow's Oliver Cleaver collected the ball from the halfway line and pushed forward as the Dockers defence were back tracking. Cleaver got within five yards of the Tilbury box and curled a venomous shot which whizzed inches past the post.
Just before the hour mark, Tilbury's Keith collected the ball 15 yards within his own half, spotted Joel Barnett making a run and sent in a well-timed pass for Barnett to half volley the ball over the head of Harlow keeper Ashley Harris to give the Dockers a 2-1 lead.
Ten minutes later Tilbury's Nathan Gordon set-off with speed down the right, almost to the byline, and the nippy winger sent in a teasing ball across goal into the path of Barnett, who simply slid the ball into the net from close range to make the score 3-1 to the Dockers.
With six minutes to go Harlow were still pushing the Dockers defence when they were caught cold. The ball was sent upfield to the feet of Gordon who surged into the Harlow half and from an acute angle he fired the ball into the net.
In injury time Barnett had a chance to score his third, the ball was driven in by Glen Golby who unselfishly laid the ball to his left where Barnet was ready to unleash a blistering effort, however, Harris did well to palm the ball out.
l This Saturday Harlow Town travel to face Concord in Ryman League Division One North.
Anstead added: "We have a tough one on Saturday as Concord are without doubt one of the better sides in the league.
"The fixtures will be coming thick and fast now and if we do not pick up six to eight points before Christmas then we are definitely going to be in trouble."
The Hawks then entertain Northwood in the league at Barrows Farm on Tuesday night.
