HARLOW based Raytheon Systems Ltd has sealed a deal to supply radar systems for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Pinnacles company has been awarded the major contract by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for nationwide air traffic management.
The deals includes the supply of radar systems, together with their supporting infrastructure, for en route services as well as for radar approach control at the Kingdom's major international airports.
Richard Claydon, Raytheon's head of air traffic management systems, said: "An award of this magnitude from such an important customer as the GACA reinforces Raytheon's position as foremost surveillance provider. It also extends Raytheon's state-of-the-art surveillance in this important regional market, which is distinguished by continuing growth in contrast to an economic downturn elsewhere."
Engineer Mohammed Ahmed Al-Salmi, GACA vice-president air navigation services, said: "We are pleased to be working with Raytheon on this very important project and look forward to the establishment of a long and enduring partnership."
Raytheon is a member of the Harlow and District Chamber of Commerce and is a major supplier to the UK's Ministry of Defence and is involved in numerous, high-priority programmes for the US Department of Defense. Raytheon designs, develops and manufactures a range of high-technology defence and commercial electronic systems at its facilities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Raytheon has also supplied new air traffic control radars to Ras Al Khaimah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
